Demos are an excellent test preparation tool. But just like any tool the end results depend on how you use it. Demoing is usually a requirement to see if you are ready for your next test. If you pass the demo, you get to move on to the test. If you do not pass the demo, you either have to do another demo, or you will be allowed to resolve any issues before your test.
