Pro Sessions Aikido is affiliated with the Aikido Association of America, an International organization headquartered in Chicago with over 130 affiliated dojos. Our Iaido program joins with the Nishikaze Aikido Society of America. Nishikaze is the official ranking body in the U.S. for Nishio Sensei’s iaido which is Aiki Toho Iaido. NASA establishes official standards and grading requirements and provides testing and promotion for Aiki Toho Iaido.
Aikido Association of America
The AAA provides national recognition and accreditation to its dojo and members. AAA has established promotion test requirements and certified kyu and dan ranks. Dan certificate is issued by Aikido World HQ.
Aiki Toho Iaido
Nishio Sensei developed a new form of iaido called Aikido Toho Iai which illuminates the deep relationship between the katana (Japanese sword) and techniques in Aikido. Nishio’s sword work is otonashi or silent, meaning the contact between blades minimal and movements are done in the gaps of the opponents attack. The ken (sword) and jo are central to Nishio Aikido. Nishio said that “O Sensei said that ‘Aikido is the expression of the principles of the sword through the body.’
